Leading-edge advances in technology for the electromagnetic spectrum

Success on the battlefield extends beyond land, air and sea to cyberspace and the electromagnetic spectrum. Electronic warfare is not only about leveraging the spectrum for one’s own advantage—to detect, deny and deceive—it’s used to disrupt and destruct an enemy’s attack as well. As the electronic battlefield intensifies, staying one step ahead of our adversaries remains more critical than ever to ensure dominance across the airwaves.

Our work

​We conduct transformative research that addresses increasingly more sophisticated multispectral threats from adversaries and informs the development of a vast array of electronic protection, attack and countermeasure solutions for our Department of Defense customers. 

Through this research, we have been able to play a pivotal role in advancing future and current ground survivability and protection objectives through the development of advanced warning and countermeasure system software, hardware and techniques. We have developed advanced electronic warfare algorithms that enable data fusion and integration both within and across platforms. We’ve also applied innovative concepts to address the complex threat detection and countermeasure challenges in the counter-unmanned aerial systems field. 

Our researchers developed machine learning-based resource management solutions for multifunction radio frequency (RF) systems and extended these techniques for distributed battle management. Additionally, several of our government-funded research and development programs apply and adapt machine learning techniques to RF and intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance, especially for the tactical edge. We have developed intelligent hardware- and software-based systems that simultaneously suppress interference, protect multiple signals-of-interest and extend the range of legacy military radios via advanced RF signal processing techniques.

Through our signal processing and machine learning advances, we also support research in wideband sensing and automated signal classification.  ​
