Voltage Conversion Module Suite

Configurable, ruggedized voltage and power delivery in a small form factor

The Peraton Voltage Conversion Module (VCM) Suite is a family of single Printed Circuit Board Assembly (PCBA) products that offer configurable and ruggedized voltage and power delivery in a small form factor. Our VCM products combine electrical filtering, voltage conversion, downstream protection, and connectorized I/O—all in a single module with a compact footprint.

​Sold as commercial products, the VCM suite features a universal PCB design architecture that provides flexible configuration and supports a variety of DC output voltages and electrical power capacities. Easily integrated as a circuit card assembly or with a custom chassis for standalone operation, the VCM suite is a universal and configurable solution for diverse applications requiring a self-contained, small footprint, DC-DC converter (power supply).

Features

  • Accepts a range of DC voltage (nominally 18-36VDC, in line with military ground vehicle batteries) and performs necessary filtering and voltage conversion, yielding clean electrical power (at appropriate voltage and power levels) to power electronic enclosure subsystems.
  • Flexible architecture allows a variety of input and output voltage/current options without the need to develop specialized PCBs for each configuration. 
  • Designed to meet MIL-STD-810, MIL-STD-461G, and MIL-STD-1275E. Currently MIL-STD-810 qualified under the following, with additional qualification underway:
    • Low and High Temperature Storage
    • Low and High Temperature Operation
    • Functional Shock
    • Vehicle Vibration Profile
  • Power sharing circuitry in the design enables two or more power supply assemblies to be placed in parallel to deliver more power
  • Incorporates health monitoring capabilities and a mechanism to remotely enable and disable the power supply assembly; together these allow powering in a controlled fashion, rather than turning all power on at once and reducing the large inrush current
  • Planned enhancements to include Opto-Isolation of health and status Digital I/O signals and the capability to measure current by adding hall effect components
